It all started when I was 5. My mom sat my brother, his friend and me down with needle, thread and fabric to teach us the art of the pillow...
I remember the soft pink fabric - a light but bright pink with tiny white dots - absolutely perfect. Sitting on the floor weaving a threaded needle through that fabric was the beginning of a love affair with sewing and crafting for me. Though the pillow (thereafter officially named the "little pink pillow") was a little wonky and wobbly, I loved it and was proud of it. It was perfect for snuggling in bed - I can still, all these years later, remember the feel of it perfectly molding around the shape of my arm.
The years blur from there with various attempts at sewing excellence like doll clothes and cross stitch in 4th grade. Things really took off for me in high school when I decided I would make my own prom dress. With a lot of help from my mom, I made my mandarin style prom dress and went from there.
My next prom dress was a Vogue Bridal pattern.
After graduating high school with lots of projects under my belt, I majored in Fashion Design and Production. I made 4 bridal dresses before graduating with my Associates.
8 years later, I have lots of beautiful fabric I've been keeping for the perfect project. I realized just a few weeks ago that saving for the perfect project is still wasting it if I never use it.
So that's where we are now. I won't be buying any more fabric this year until I've used at least half of what I have. I'll be posting my projects as they're finished. You can find my favorite blogs below - some are craft based, some are humor based. Enjoy!
